From Davis Consulting Corporation to Optimizon, over 15 years of success

The story of Optimizon begins nearly two decades ago. After twelve years in copier service and sales management, Rod Davis decided to move forward on his own and stake ground as a consultant in a space he recognized as a void in large-scale procurement - helping people save money and headaches when buying a copier. Beginning as Davis Consulting Corporation, Rod's vision is fulfilled today as Optimizon.

Rod came up with the idea of lending his expertise and insider information to help businesses base their copier purchasing decisions on more than the persuasive skills of the sales rep. Rod's breakthrough thought was organizational need and use could be represented in benchmarks and metrics to make purchase decisions to not only lower the overall cost of document production, but increase organizational output and performance.

Representing the business owner and organization's need in acquiring copier fleets, Rod initially offered a service named Davis Analysis System to analyze the company's copier needs in terms of speed, volume, features, service, warranties, repairs and maintenance projected over a five year period. He removed himself from all sales commissions, brokerage fees or other incentives that could influence a purchasing decision. The success of this service evolved to the Integrated Fleet Optimizer suite of services Optimizon offers today.

Based on his early success, Rod began offering guarantees that he would save every client at least as much as his fee, and kept track of the savings his clients enjoyed. At the end of his first six months as a consultant he found that the clients he had served had planned on spending a total of $667,462 on copier equipment. With his assistance, they were able to obtain the equipment they needed for $403,061, a savings of $264,401.

Following success after success, Rod developed software so he could simultaneously monitor copier performance and service calls by several hundred clients using thousands of copiers. Recognizing they were accountable for full compliance with all of the requirements they had agreed to follow, his clients’ vendors seldom varied from the contracted terms. When they did, he was able to pull out the enforcement provision of the service contract and obtain new equipment, adequate repairs or other remedies based on the severity of the problem. Optimizon continues with this process and oversight today.

Over 15 years later, Optimizon retains its heritage of not representing or aligning itself with printer or copier vendors, nor does Optimizon sell equipment or maintenance contracts. Instead, we combine expert knowledge, business processes and technologies to assist our clients in optimizing the cost and performance of their copier fleets.

With years of experience and success working with public and private sector organizations of all sizes, we’ve successfully worked with clients at over three hundred locations nationwide. And in each case, our clients achieved significant improvements, not only reducing fleet costs, but improving business systems and increasing productivity.

Although it’s not always simple to cut costs while increasing the quality of delivered services, it’s not impossible. Good news is the complexity of contracting for document production services has given rise to specialists in the area of identifying ideal equipment and deployment of copier fleets. That’s the business of Optimizon – right-sizing document production fleets and assuring the highest level of vendor and equipment performance. With organizations spending tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars annually on copying and printing, we take the guesswork out of vendor and equipment selection and management. We work with our clients to create a system and solution that ensures the very best selection and delivery of document production services.

Since the early days of Davis Consulting Corporation, we’ve saved our clients millions of dollars while improving their ability to deliver copying and printing services. Our approach is proven and we welcome the opportunity with work with you and share extraordinary success.
